Cognitant is thrilled to have been awarded two prestigious prizes at the Science & Engineering Health Technologies Alliance (SEHTA) Healthcare Business Awards 2024. The team was honoured to be recognised for significant contributions to the healthcare industry at an event held at The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE).

Cognitant won the ‘Delivering Innovation into Health and Care’ award, a category celebrating outstanding innovation in healthcare solutions. This award acknowledges the company’s continuous efforts to advance technologies for patient education and support, improving patient outcomes and the efficiency of care delivery.

The award was particularly in recognition of one of Cognitant’s flagship product, My Stroke Companion, a ground-breaking digital companion developed with University College London Hospitals (UCLH)  that has revolutionised stroke care by providing comprehensive support and education to stroke survivors and their caregivers. The impact of My Stroke Companion is significant, having proven to notably increase understanding of stroke among both stroke survivors and caregivers with comprehension rates increasing from 31% to 88% and 35% to 96%, respectively, after accessing the companion.

Cognitant was further honoured with the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award, highlighting the company’s significant impact on the healthcare market and its innovative solutions that address real-world challenges through patient empowerment and solutions for health service optimisation. The runner-up in this prestigious category was Healthy iO & Bromley Healthcare, also recognised for their exceptional work in advancing digital healthcare.

Dr Tim Ringrose, CEO and Founder of Cognitant said, “We are delighted to have won the ‘Delivering Innovation into Health and Care’ category, and being named for the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award was a fantastic recognition of the team’s hard work and the significant impact our solutions have on patient experience, health outcomes and efficiencies.”

All the winners and finalists showcased remarkable achievements in the healthcare sector. Other notable winners included Health Tech Services Group for the Start-Up Award, Freyr Solutions for the Innovation Award, and the collaborative team of Imperial College London & Pathfinder for the Partnership between Academia & Business Award. The Advances in Digital Healthcare Award was jointly won by Healthy iO & Bromley Healthcare, with Cardmedic named as the runner-up.

The award ceremony was opened with a keynote speech from Professor Sebastien Ourselin FREng FMedSci, Head of the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences at King’s College London, who led the event with an inspiring talk about the MedTech Hub. Located at St Thomas’ campus, the MedTech Hub is creating a unique ecosystem that fosters collaboration between academia, industry, and the NHS.

The winners of the SEHTA Healthcare Business Awards will now be shortlisted for the Medilink UK National Awards, with the final winners to be announced on 11th July.
